[2 Minute Tip] Adswap Smarts

So I have decided to create a new feature here on my blog.  I am going to start giving quick little tips to my readers in my new “Trevor’s 2 Minute Tips” blog posts. I have been getting a lot of questions regarding adswaps and since I have been active with adswaps lately I thought I would start off by giving you some of the tips I use myself when looking for adswap partners and accepting adswap proposals. When looking for adswap partners you will want to look for partners close to the same list size as yours.  This will help when you are seeking out people to swap with.  The other person will be more inclined to accept your proposal rather than feel like you are trying to use their list with out offering much in return. Before requesting or accepting adswap proposals it is very important that you read the persons ad swipe that you are going to send out to your list.  You want to make sure that the style is something you would want to send to your...

ListLaser.com 30 Day Challenge

I started to tell you in a previous post that I had some really cool excitement last year. As part of my Internet marketing adventure I took part in a 30 day list building challenge.  This contest was a little different than most others. It was not only how many subscribers you could add to your email list but also how creative you were throughout the contest in attracting these subscribers. The contest was organized by Sterling Valentine and he had attracted many Internet marketers to be the judges for the contest. Winners would win a trip to New York City to be part of the ListLaser Live event and also be part of a panel discussion. The contest was really cool because Sterling and many other marketers within his personal circle of influence were all part of “Daily Video Interviews”.  These interviews had all kinds of amazing tips to help build your list. The videos were located here: (Hopefully these videos are still available for you) So Where Is This Going?

QUICK UPDATE: Favicon Changed!

I came a cross a great tip last week to make your new blog look a little less like a “newbie” blog… When starting a new blog most people concentrate their time and efforts on changing the blog theme…but one way to really make you blog look seasoned is to change the favicon. What’s A Favicon? A favicon is a little icon that appears next to the web address at the top of your browser.  So as you can see by the picture below I did not have a favicon for my blog before learning this little tip. How I Changed My Favicon The first this I needed to do was to turn an image in to a favicon.  The favicon is 16 pixels by 16 pixels. This great site will convert your images into the proper favicon format.  Check it out here: Once you have created your favicon all you have to do is install it into your websites root folder. Since I am using the Thesis Wrodpress theme I was able to upload my favicon directly through my theme. Here is what my favicon looks like...

So Why Listen To Me…

So last week I told you a little bit about me and some of what drives me to build my online business. I have asked you to follow me and watch me through out this year as I build my business.  I want you to be part of my support cast and grow with me. Why Listen To Me? Well…My story is not unlike what you have heard from others in the sense that I want to have an online business, make money and spend more time with my family.  Sound Familiar? But…I have had some successes (I will explain in a bit) and also some pitfalls and roadblocks.  I want this year to be open and transparent to show you that this can be done by anyone who is willing to treat this like an actual business.  There is no push button solution to create a successful business. My Internet Marketing History… My Internet Marketing passion began in January of 2009.  A friend of mine had introduced me to the idea of affiliate marketing.  I began to explore the idea and find out what this...

Interesting Email This Morning

I awoke this morning to an interesting LinkedIn notification in my inbox.  It was from a business friend of mine from my the corporate security world. The notification looked like this… I was very excited to see this notification for a couple of reasons. I have not been in touch with my friend in a very long time so it was nice to hear from him and wanting to re-connect with me. My friend is a very successful and respected person in the security industry and has been a big part of my success.  He helped get me my first job in Loss Prevention. Now when I called him I thought that he was only wanting to chat and catch up. Little did I now… He was very interested in what I was doing with my online marketing business.  He had seen my posts about taking the Diamond 360 Marketing Challenge and was interested in learning more about “Making Money From Home” This was very encouraging because I have only re-vamped my blog within the last week and have linked my posts...

QUICK UPDATE: New Social Media Widget

I have been searching for a plugin or widget for my blog so that I can add my social media profiles. I found a great widget called Social Media Widget (Original Name…LOL).  But the widget lets you add all the social media profiles that I can think of. I have added the widget to the top bar of my blog and I think it looks great. Please comment below and tell me what you think. Talk Soon, Trevor

New Blog Theme

So part of my commitment to updating this blog and keeping it interesting and valuable to my readers is improving the whole blog from content to functionality to … you guessed it…improving the design and look. Over the next few months I am going to redesign the whole look of my blog and try to find a new blog theme that really shows who I am and what I want my business to represent. Trevor…Why do you want to change your blog theme? That’s a great question! The theme that I am using is good and fairly user friendly.  There are four available color themes provided and can be changed in the administration area. One of the great features is the ability to add your social media links from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.  Unfortunately I was not able to make these all appear properly. My favorite thing about the theme was that it had a built in Email Optin form built into the theme.  All you have to do was enter your autorespnder code and you were set to build your...
