Top 4 Ways To Promote Your Blog Post

So you have just finished crafting your latest blog post.  But you don’t know who will ever see it.  The only people that know your new post exists are YOU! If you are relying on search engines to rank your posts for all to see you may be waiting a very long time.  That is why content publishers need to utilize syndication strategies to get targeted viewers to your blog content and get noticed by your ideal customers. Well, here are 4 ways to promote your new blog post…  1. Social Media Sharing This one probably goes without saying but most people don’t do this one properly.  Just by sharing your one line title and description on Twitter doesn’t attract new viewers to your blog post.  You will need to custom tailor your updates to the social media platform your are promoting to. For example if you are posting to Facebook you may want to include an image and a longer description of your post.  For Twitter a shorter description is preferred but using the...

Google requires: A profile photo on your Google+ account A byline on your content where your name appears on every page of your content You byline must match your Google+ name Have an email address on the same domain as your content If you don’t have one already you will need to create a Google Plus account and ensure it contains photo of yourself.  The photo must be a head shot where you are recognizable.   Step 1: Link Your Google Plus Profile To Your Website Google needs to verify you as an author even on your own site Therefore you must create a link between your Google Plus profile and your website.

Why Google Authorship Is Important For Your Branding

Have you heard of Google Authorship? If you are a content creator then you need to know what Google Authorship is and how it will benefit you. On the surface Google Authorship will place your photo along with your byline in the search results beside your article title.  Just like how video results appear in the search results.  Most people are drawn to the results that contain images as they really catch your eye. It is pretty cool to see your name in the search engine lights! Here is an example of what you might see. Google Authorship is a highly effective way to promote your content and brand yourself as an authority at the same time. They use what is called “Rich Snippets” to gather the information and show the author’s photo (which is attached to the authors Google+ account), full name and the amount of G+ circles they are members of. Google Authorship ties in your Google + profile and creates a verified connection between content created on the internet and...

DoFollow Or NoFollow…That Is The Questions!

Have you heard of DoFollow and NoFollow attributes? What do this mean and how does this impact your blog? DoFollow and NoFollow attributes used by Google (and other search engines) to help determine what kind of value these links hold to the community.  Do Follow links are an indication that a webmaster or blogger endorses the site that they are linking to. The NoFollow attribute basically tells the search engines that even though one site is linking to another, there is no endorsement and no page rank flows to the other site. As bloggers this is important.  Most visitors who leave comments on your posts do so because they like your content but also to grow their “link juice” in the search engines as well from authority sites.  So commenting on a NoFollow blog does not help them build their authority in the search engines. Did You Know That Your WordPress Site Is NoFollow By Default! Not that that is a really bad thing but enabling DoFollow attributes for comments on...

By having an easy way for your followers to share your content the more target audience you can reach. The plugin is called Share Bar and it is very easy to install and very customizable.  There are many of these plugins available out there but I find Share Bar very easy to work with. This plugin can be installed like any other plugin in WordPress.  Once in the plugin options, select Add New.  In the search bar enter Sharebar and this should be the first plugin returned in the search results.  Click on...

QUICK UPDATE: Blog Redesign!

Well I have started the changes to re-energize my blog. First, I have decided to use the Flexibility 3 theme.  This theme is extremely easy to use and customize.  The theme interface is very straight forward and easy to follow.       As you can see there are many options in the Flexibility theme dashboard for customizing your new theme.  You just select the options you want and deselect the options you want to remove. I will update you as I use the more of the themes options. I also installed a social share plugin (as you see beside this post).  Social sharing is a major part of promoting your blog.  This plugin was easy to install and implemented nicely.  The only customization I had to do was add the Google+ button.  The instructions were on the developers website and was very easy. Stay tuned for the next post with more updates.  Please comment below. Trevor
